Torquay to Llangollen

What a day! I had asked my brother if he wanted to join me for a ‘ride out’ on Sunday. Not sure he knew what he was letting him self in for.

We left the English riviera at 7.30am, he set the pace on his t595 homebrew special and I admired his funky new BIG number plate.

We saw only one other bike heading north until we got to the M54 heading for Telford, then we got a warm feeling as more and more bikes started to join the road to North Wales.

Well I hadn’t put down directions for the last few miles, Ifigured I’d tag along with everybody else… trouble was nobody else knew where we were going!

We eventually found the Horseshoe Pass and then the scale of the demo sunk in, we didn’t make it to the Ponderosa-gridlock, and so we had our packed lunch by the side of the road looking out over one of the best views this side of the Austrian Alps along with hundreds of other happy bikers(plus one over friendly sheep)!

Looking at the bike trip showed 270 miles and so regrettably we decided the 4pm meeting would be a bridge too far, and so after a coke in a local pub we decided to head for home.

We took a more scenic route back for the first leg and didn’t stop smiling all the way home, well there was some grimacing going on as, well-poor old arsecakes… we were feeling pretty happy with ourselves and the mileage.

Until we stopped for our last fuel stop and pulled in behind a fellow MAG member who had MAG Cornwall on his back! Well done that man! All in all a fantastic day, proud to be part of it.

A big thank you to you at MCN Towers for sticking your necks out, I’m sure you have won a lot of people over. I’ve also decided to be more active in MAG as a result of the day.

We have to stand together. How about making it an annual event? Any other trouble spots? You call and they will come…. Clive.
