New Bike Test

I just wanted to write and give my view on the new module 1 motorcycle test. I am a DSA qualified CBT/DAS instructor.

I am amazed by the attitude of MCN towards the new test, I fully agree that some areas of the contry do not have enough centres, but the test its self is perfectly fine. How many of you guys that keep slating it have been trained for or taken the new test?

I regularly train and take students along to the test centres. The new test (especially the swerve test) is easily passable to students that have recieved adequate training.

As yet I have not had a student fall or hurt themselves, some do take a couple of attempts to pass (normally due to not hitting the required speed) but so far all have passed without incedent.

In my opinion anyone who fails to pass is certainly not ready for life on our busy roads. There has to be progress and change, that is the nature of things and as a publication supposedly promoting motorcycling you yourselves have caused massive damage to the industry by spreading rumors and hearsay and should take a large part of the blame for the big fall in numbers coming to test.

I am constantly confronted with students spouting negative comments about this test due directly to your negative reporting, you should be ashamed of yourselves and start to see the positives of this test, after all it is designed to make bikers safer! and thats got to be a good thing.

A great man once said “with great power comes great responsibility” ok it was Spiderman, but you guys would do well to remember it! Rant over, thanks
