Josh Brookes and Haemochromatosis

1 of 1

Sad to hear that Josh Brookes has been diagnosed with Haemochromatosis, a rare blood disorder, which actually means too much Iron in the blood, luckily it has been diagnosed early enough to be controlled.

My son Luke Baglee died at the age of 22 of Juvenile Haemochromatosis, which was not diagnosed until after the post mortem.

My Wife Nerolie and I have raised some £15,000 to raise awareness of this little known condition through various fund raising events including an Iron Butt Rally, (1000 miles in less than 24 Hours). I also completely renovated my ’97 Honda Blackbird as a tribute bike to Luke.

The bike has the Haemochromatosis logos on. Some 18 months ago the HM Plant team attended an open day at Portsmouth Honda and I was lucky enough to get a picture of the bike with Josh Brookes, James Hayden and Glen Richards.

Josh was very interested in the bike and Luke’s story and showed a lot of compassion. Little did he know just over a year later he would be diagnosed with the same disorder.
