Friends and Fans SuperSic58

My husband and I have been big MotoGP fans for quite sometime now and had in recent years been following the career of an upcoming rising star.

Marco Simoncelli was larger than life both on and off the track and attracted fans the world over. Best known for his wild hair, big smile and crazy manouevers on the track Marco brought an excitement back to MotoGP.

We watched in delight as he got third in Brno and screamed at the TV when he got second in Phillip Island. We looked forward to the next race as we were confident he would once again be on podium.

Alas it was not to be. As we all know what happened on that fateful day in Sepang. A rising star taken far too soon and leaving us all heartbroken and distraught.

From this devastation, an idea was born and a petition set up to leave pole position free for Marco in Valencia. Within a few days over 11,000 people signed the petition on facebook.

Unfortunately the request was denied for various reasons but from this page developed a group of fans of SuperSic called “friends and fans SuperSic 58”.

This is a group of people from all over the world all with one thing in common. The love and respect for one man who gave them so much enjoyment and now they all share in the pain and loss.

The group is made up of men and women of all ages who share their everyday lives as well as numerous photos and stories of Marco.

It has been a tremendous help to all over the past few months and in his honour we have had a book printed called “Don’t forget to smile” with entries from group members along with photos and their names and where they are from.

This is to be presented to his family at his birthday party on 20th January in Coriano by three group members.

Please have a look at our group page and everyone is welcome to join in and honour our super Sic. RIP Marco – gone but never forgotten.
