Bike Shop Star of the month

1 of 1

The nominations are in and January’s winner is:
Jamie Kellmanno of Fast Lane Motorcycles, Tonbridge

MCN is on the look-out for men and women in the motorcycle trade who have gone that extra mile, just for you. Whether your local mechanic performed exceptional work on your beloved bike, a salesman guided you away from a dodgy machine or a dealer principle gave you an unbeatable price, we want to know about it. Both the winning nominee and nominator will be awarded with a pair of British Superbike tickets each to the meeting of their choice.*

Daryl Mallinson arranged a track day in Spain for his friend Carl Robson, who was diagnosed with cancer in December and given six months to live. The pair planned to hire two bikes on the day but soon realised no one had any machines to rent.

Daryl’s personal bike had recently been stolen and crashed, so he took it in to Fast Lane for a quick repair so they could at least share one bike between them.

Little did Daryl know, the three man outfit at Fast Lane, Jamie Kellmanno, Stuart McIvor and Justin Ogilvy also run their own race team, Phased Out Racing. The team competes in the European No Budget Cup Series, successfully winning the 2012 championship. After mentioning Carl’s predicament, owner Justin put Daryl’s bike as priority and Jamie offered his own 2003 Yamaha R1 for Carl to use free in Spain.

Their only request: “Have fun, and if you smash it up, don’t worry, just bring back what’s left for spare parts.” According to Carl: “They have made my wish come true, they are dream makers”.

Both Jamie Kellmanno and Carl Robson will be awarded with a pair of BSB tickets and Fast Lane will be presented with the prestigious MCN Bike Shop Star certificate of excellence.
