Six time world champion Max Biaggi returned to the track today at Mugello today testing the Pramac Ducati MotoGP bike. Following his retirement from WSB at the end of last season, the 41 year old Italian has been linked with a comeback to WSB along with testing duties for the struggling Alstare Ducati 1199 Panigale.

But instead of focussing his efforts in WSB, Biaggi has been drafted in to test Ben Spies’ Desmosedici. Biaggi, who won four 250GP titles and two WSB crowns during his illustrious racing career is renowned for his precise riding style and detailed feedback to engineers.

According to inside sources at Mugello, Biaggi’s best lap of the morning was a 1.49.7.  The fastest race lap set at last weeks Mugello MotoGP race was set by Marc Marquez with a 1.47.639 meaning that Biaggi is currently around two seconds off the pace – first time out on a MotoGP bike since 2005.
