“I’ve just passed my test, and am looking to buy my first bike – but I need some advice. I’m only 5ft 3inches tall, and I have no desire for a ‘big’ bike. What I want is something that fits me physically, is A2 licence compliant, and not made from chewing gum and aluminium foil.

“I’ve ditched my car and will be doing 6 to 8,000 miles a year, commuting on country lanes, a dual carriageway, and through town. I’d like something I can enjoy on weekend rides too, ideally. Help me!”
