Guy Martin goes Trannie racing

1 of 3

Persistent speed junkie, occasional motorcycle racer and full-time lorry mechanic, Guy Martin, is back with another series of his wildly popular Speed programme, on Channel 4.

In the new series Guy takes on yet more adrenaline-fuelled challenges, starting this Sunday, September 4, with the first of this brand-new three-part series.

In this first episode, Guy heads to the USA to enter the fastest road race on the planet; the Nevada Open Road Challenge. Each year, Highway 318 is closed for one day for a time trial which sees an array of race spec supercars drive flat-out for 90 miles through the desert. But rather than compete in a supercar, Guy rolls up to the start line in his three-year-old Ford Transit van.

Just a few months earlier it was a write-off, after being involved in an accident, but now modified as a street racer, and with a full complement of race engineers in tow – Guy’s racing it. To do this, Guy must harness cutting-edge science, learn new skills and call on the support of some of the unsung heroes of British industry, using the best of our design and engineering talent.

Watch the action this Sunday, September 4, at 8pm on Channel 4. The rest fo the three-part series continues after the Paralympics.
