Published: 01 July 2016

When: August 13

What: Petrol Heads

Where: Hanger 42, Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, Leicestershire, LE17 5QS

A whole host of championship-winning bikes and riders are coming to Bruntingthorpe this August to help raise money for charity. The Petrol Heads event will be taking over the famous proving ground’s Hangar 42 and filling it with all manner of historic and contemporary road and racing machines, autojumble, trade stands, entertainment and more.

Raising money for Cancer Research and the Midlands Air Ambulance, the event has so far confirmed the attendance of 2013 World Superbike champion Tom Sykes, who will be bringing along his own Kawasaki H2R, Billy McConnell, and Kawasaki BSB rider James Ellison and his brother Dean will also be on hand for selfies and chat about their racing careers.

The fun doesn’t stop there, as Petrol Heads also will also have an extreme wheelie machine, fun for youngsters with climbing walls and bouncy castles, food and refreshment, and a classic bike show with prizes for the best machine. The show then continues into the evening with a great line-up of excellent live bands.

Event organiser Bob Croson said: “Once we cover our costs every penny will go to our chosen charities – Cancer Research and the East Midlands Air Ambulance. Weather permitting we can use Bruntingthorpe’s large car park for outdoor displays with the adjoining field doubling as a car park and camp site for those visitors wanting to stay for the live bands on Saturday evening and stop overnight.

“I’m hoping as many celebrities as possible from the car and motorcycle worlds will attend.  We know the 2013 World Superbike champion Tom Sykes will be attending with his HR2 Kawasaki. Also starting up will be the MotoGP Ducati and Norton, MV Agusta, Victory and Indian have also confirmed their attendance.”

Details: Gates open at 9.30am. Admission to the daytime event is £10 per person, £5 for the evening event and £15 for the day and evening.  Children under 13 are free. Anyone wishing to exhibit should contact Bob Croson on 07764 153061
