US electric motorcycle manufacturer Alta Motors entered their first ever motocross race, the Red Bull Straight Rhythm event, with former racer Josh Hill at the helm against a field of traditional motocross bikes.
Alta entered their Redshift MX, which produces 40bhp and 36ft-lbs of torque, in the lite class, putting it up against traditional 250cc four-stroke machines along the half mile course.
Hill qualified fifth, and was able to progress to the eight rider final event, winning two of his three races against fourth place qualifier Kyle Cunningham in the quarter final.
Hill was knocked out in the semi final by first place qualifier Mitchell Oldenburg, but both he and the Alta Motors team were more than happy with the result.
Perhaps we'll see more electric bikes at the 2017 event?
