Triumph to release special edition vinyl

1 of 3

Triumph have announced a special edition vinyl record to ‘celebrate their rock ‘n’ roll heritage’ alongside their own turntable, inspired by the Street Cup model.

The album, which will be pressed by Triumph music partner Flying Vinyl, will feature tracks from 10 up-and-coming British rock bands voted for by Triumph fans on Facebook. Only 500 records will be produced and will be titled ‘Racing the Record’, a nod to the 1960s cafe racer practice of selecting a track on the jukebox and racing to a predetermined point and back before the song ended.

The turntable will be made by British firm Rega, and will be finished in the same Racing Yellow colourscheme as the Triumph Street Cup. Only two have been made and for a chance to win one you should keep an eye on Triumph’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Triumph Motorcycles GB general manager, Paul Lilly, said: “Rock ‘n’ roll music was a major part of the café racer culture back in the 1960s. In fact, the music that played on the jukeboxes of the cafes these enthusiasts frequented even forms part of the scene’s folklore.”

The turntable and vinyl record will make their public debut at a launch event on Tuesday August 29 at The Bike Shed, London, where some of the bands featured on the record will be performing live. Tickets for the event are limited, and a select few will win places at the event through Triumph’s social media channels.
