New Two-stroke Motocross Festival launched

A brand new motocross festival for anyone who loves two-strokes will burst into life in Kent on August 5-6 this year. The Apico 2-Stroke Festival is to be held at the old-school track at Sellindge to bring together racers, fans and anyone who loves two-strokes for a whole weekend of family-friendly fun and action for grass roots racers.

With mega distributor Apico on board right from the moment the idea was revealed, the event aims to be a fun celebration of racing like it used to be.

Young or old rider, new bike or well-loved oldie, there are classes for just about everyone. From seven-year-olds on 65s through to 125cc and Open class adults on modern bikes, plus classes for two-strokes, Evo and SuperEvo machines, there will be action for all.

The event is sanctioned by the MCF and is the brainchild of former British two-stroke champion Dave Willet who said: “This is an event I’ve dreamed of ever since I hung up my boots as a pro racer.

“I want to give something back to our sport – to bridge the gap between old school and new school. We want to keep it simple and bring it back to grass roots, and that’s two-strokes.

“The event will be different to all the normal race meetings. We want to bring people together in a festival of two-strokes.

“We want that connection and respect between the young riders and older riders. And we want those old two-strokes that have sat in the garage for years to be put back on the track too.”

With trade stands, off-track activities promising family fun, a beer tent, plus lots of trophies and more than £2000 of prizes up for grabs, it should be a great atmosphere centred around a good old-school track that will be revamped before the event.

The entry fee for the two days is £110 and everyone who enters will receive a £50 discount voucher towards a complete DEP two-stroke exhaust system and other discount vouchers.

Sellindge is on the A20 between Ashford and Folkestone in Kent, South East England with easy access to motorways and just a few miles from channel crossing ferry ports and the Eurotunnel.
