Dainese have unveiled a new brand of clothing celebrating their success as a company, across their 45-year history.

Available now, Dainese Settantadue (or 72 to us Brits) is inspired by the company’s previous exploits and offers a retro feel, coupled with modern touches and safety.

TOP STORIES

The range includes leather jackets, boots, gloves and accessories – each inspired by past Dainese products stored in their extensive archive.

In order to experience the new range first-hand, MCN was invited to take a tour around Dainese’s headquarters in Vicenza, Italy, ahead of its launch.

It was here that we spoke to the Director of the collection, Renato Montagner (pictured above), who said: “Dainese, through 45 years, has been witness to the motorcycle revolution and so we tried to capture some of these moments of evolution in this new range.

“The idea of Settantadue is not to make a collection that is evolves over the years, but to make a collection that is different every year. The first year is about the leather jacket because the leather jacket is the definitive biker jacket.

“It’s going back to our routes and getting inspired from our heritage and making contemporary products.” Renato said.

Just one of the items in the new range is the Patina72 leather jacket, which retails for £899.95. Made of soft drum-dyed premium leather, the jacket features a bespoke lining produced by New York artist, Othelo Gervacio. Known as the ‘Demon Flower’, it is also available as a print on a T-shirt. All of the jackets in the range are compatible with Dainese’s latest Pro-Armour back protector too.

We also sat down with Dainese’s CEO Cristiano Silei, who said: “The way we look at this range is not retro. At least in our lingo, when we think about retro, we think about something looks like the past and tries to mimic something from there. The way we look at everything we do is that we are just fishing from our very rich heritage.

“The new range utilises very modern, contemporary solutions. The quality of the zippers, the interiors; all of that is contemporary – it’s just inspired by our heritage. We like to tell the story because we have it.”
