The 5 best reasons to visit the Carole Nash MCN Festival

1 of 4

Forget Harry and Meghan, who cares if Chelsea beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final, we’ve got something bigger and better to worry about this weekend: The Carole Nash MCN Festival of Motorcycling.

Below are five reasons why you should attend, but if you are still struggling to choose, you can watch the Royal wedding and the FA Cup final at the festival in the Cambridge Suite. You’re welcome.

1. Ride the 2018 bikes

Fancy swinging your leg over some of the hottest new bikes on the planet? All the major manufacturers will have huge test fleets available at the festival, so whether you’re into sportsbikes, adventure bikes or cruisers, there’ll be plenty of choice. There’s no pre-booking for test rides, just remember to bring your lid and your licence. Don’t have the latter yet? No problem. Novice and restricted-licence bikes will be available, too.

2. Watch thrilling racing

The festival is packed with racing action – and we mean proper racing, not tame exhibition parades. On both days the DTRA will be running a full flat-track championship round on the Speedway track, featuring everything from minibikes to a vintage class. For the campers on Saturday night there’ll be a full round of exciting premiership speedway with the Peterborough Panthers.

3. Party hard

The festival is the ideal place to kick-start your biking summer. With camping from just £30 for the weekend, it’s the best-value biking event of the year. Campers get free entry to the Peterborough Panthers Championship speedway round and Yamaha’s Dark Side parties on Friday and Saturday night, plus you’ll be first in line for the test rides in the morning. Live music includes the best local tribute acts such as Dizzy Miss Lizzy, The Expletives and the incredibly popular Hooker.

4. Meet Freddie Spencer

Winning his first 500cc Grand Prix world championship in 1983 at the age of just 21, Freddie went on to do the seemingly impossible in 1985 clinching both 250cc and 500cc titles in the same year. He will be at the Festival all weekend signing autographs and being interviewed on stage. We’re also lining up a special collection of race bikes that reflect Freddie’s unbelievable career.

5. Getting there is a ball!
