Parkers – the definitive resource for car buyers in the UK – has partnered with MCN to bring you winners of the Best Small Van, Best Medium Van, Best Large Van and Best Electrified Van in the prestigious Parkers New Car Awards 2021. And the victors have been revealed today (October 26) as four of a total of 21 award-winning vehicles announced by Parkers.

These are the Citroen Berlingo/Peugeot Partner/Toyota Proace City/Vauxhall Combo Cargo for the Best Small Van, the Ford Transit Custom for Best Medium Van and the MAN TGE/Volkswagen Crafter for the Best Large Van. The winner of the new Best Electrified Van category is the Citroen e-Dispatch/Peugeot e-Expert/Vauxhall Vivaro-e.

Best small van

In the Best Small Van category, these four vans count as one winner, as they’re the same vehicle beneath the branding, sold through their own respective dealer networks. All boast exceptional payload ratings, capable of hauling more than 1.0 tonne in some cases. A spacious cab, good ride quality and a wide range of options means they are easy vans to live with, too – whatever you need a small van for, there’s almost certainly a version of these to suit you.

Best medium van

For Best Medium Van, the Ford Transit Custom takes the spoils as it’s one of the most practical all-round choices in the medium van class, supported by an army of specialised Transit centres covering all corners of Britain. The Transit Custom has been constantly updated, has high payload ratings, delivers a great driving experience and has car-like tech in the cab – no wonder this is such a clear winner.

Best large van

The MAN TGE and Volkswagen Crafter are two sides of the same coin, and both take the Best Large Van award. They’re built together in Poland and differences are few: MAN offers truck levels of aftersales care, while Volkswagen provides a choice of factory trim levels and has that reassuringly familiar VW brand. More importantly, these vans are brilliant to use, offering great real-world efficiency and have impressive load volumes.

Best electric van 2021

Finally, for the new Best Electrified Van we have three vans from Citroen, Peugeot and Vauxhall sharing the award as beneath their branding, they’re identical. They’re so good because they were designed for electrification right from the outset, and as a consequence, they sett new standards for electric van capability. Each offers a range of more than 200 miles, payload ratings that can compete with ordinary vans and the ability to tow up to 1,000kg.

Keith Adams, Parkers.co.uk Editor, said: ‘It’s great to be working with MCN again and come up with this exciting line-up of award-winning vans that should be perfect for riders to shift their bikes. The awards are especially exciting with the introduction of the exciting new Best Electrified Van category. We’ve combined what we know about what our users with extensive van reviewing expertise on our team to bring this fabulous line-up.’

Now in its fourth year, the Parkers New Car Awards 2021 reflect the views of Britain’s car-buying public, with winners decided by a combination of the site’s expert reviewers verdicts in thousands of miles of road testing and the purchasing habits of the website’s 2.3+ million users actively involved in the buying proecess.
