Get ready for a champion day: Silverstone to welcome huge crowds

1 of 2

The Day of Champions is back at Silverstone on Thursday, August 4 ready to raise thousands of pounds ahead of the British round of the MotoGP season.

After a two-year absence due to Covid-19, the event – organised by official MotoGP charity Two Wheels for Life to benefit African charity partner, Riders for Health – promises to make up for lost time by being bigger and better than ever .

There’s a pitlane walk, live music, and interviews with the racing stars. Also, for an added extra cost, you can enjoy a ride-in led by former GP racer Niall Mackenzie, paddock access and two laps of the legendary Silverstone circuit with Randy Mamola.

As ever the highlight is certain to be the auction of MotoGP memorabilia donated by the stars themselves, which kicks off on the main stage at 3pm, and will run until 8pm with proceeds going to the Two Wheels for Life charity.

Among this year’s star lots is the signed chequered flag that brought an end to the final race of nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi’s career at Valencia in 2021.

You could also bag the helmet worn by Kenny Roberts at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed signed by the great man himself, a Colin Edwards ‘Texas Tornado’ Bootcamp experience, or an exclusive VIP Tour at the Triumph Factory Visitor Experience for 10 people. The tour will include access to areas not on the normal factory tour, plus other signed clothing from other stars of the paddock.

Day of Champions raises £194,577

If you fancy heading along, prices for general admission start from just £25 if pre-booked, or £30 on the day (with under 14s free). Paddock entry is £65, with under 13s costing £20, and under fives going free.

The ride-in (including paddock access) is £80 and the ride-in with pillion (including paddock access) is £145 (or £99 with child pillion). For more go to silverstone.co.uk/events/day-of-champions
