Triumph are offering a special Scrambler 1200 Icon Edition to the top fundraiser at this year’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR).

Founded in 2012, the DGR has now raised more than $50 million (around £38.6 million) for men’s health charities, with riders encouraged to dress up smart and take their vintage and retro bikes on one of more than 1000 organised routes across the globe.

This year’s DGR will take place on May 18, with charity partner Movember tackling prostate cancer and mental health issues with the funds raised.

“This year, we will be rewarding the highest fundraiser with an iconic motorcycle; the Scrambler 1200 Icon Edition, as well as a number of other prizes for fundraising efforts,” Triumph Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Stroud said.

“With these prizes, we hope to unite passionate Triumph riders across the world on 18 May to join Team Triumph, dress dapper, raise money for the cause and enjoy the ride.”

This will be the 12th year that Triumph have supported the event, with the new Icon Edition available as either an X or XE model for the top fundraiser.

Both Scramblers were updated at the back end of 2023, ready for the 2024 riding season, and come powered by the same 1200cc twin-cylinder engine, producing just shy of 90bhp housed in a trellis frame.

The XE’s wheelbase sits 57mm longer, at 2330mm, than the road-biased X model. This is partly thanks to a cast aluminium swingarm that’s stretched by a further 32mm. The XE gets a taller 870mm seat height, with the X coming in at a more manageable 820mm.

The Icon versions are then set apart further by their paint finish, with the standard Triumph tank logos swapped out in favour of gold badging inspired by a design first used in 1907.

On top of this, there’s a blend of ‘Sapphire Black’ and ‘Aluminium Silver’ paint, with hand-painted gold lining and a signature from the artist that finished it.

Although there is still over a month to go until the big day, the top fundraiser globally is currently John Rapacz from Chicago, who is currently on £9264. Visit the DGR website for more for more.
