Eurosport to be axed in the UK leaving BSB and WSBK fans facing huge subscription fee price hikes

Eurosport, the long-time home of the British Superbike (BSB) and World Superbike (WSBK) championships, is set to vanish from UK screens at the end of February, with coverage moving to TNT Sports alongside MotoGP.

The move leaves fans of production-based racing potentially facing a significant price hike to catch the latest live action, with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), who own Eurosport, consolidating its sports content into TNT only from February 28.

“Combining Eurosport and TNT Sports content in the UK and Ireland will enable us to offer a single, premium viewing experience for sports fans,” Scott Young of WBD Sports Europe said.

“This move in the UK and Ireland will also continue to best deliver value for our leagues and federation partners, as we continue our 35 years plus commitment to investment and championing of sport on our screens, which remains a fundamental part of the success of grassroots through to elite.”

This means that the platform will be the only destination for UK viewers to access full coverage of the above-mentioned series’, which will be tucked behind TNT’s paywall.

Eurosport had been available as part of regular TV packages from Sky and Virgin Media for no extra fee, with other app-based subscriptions allowing access to both BSB and WSBK for around £6.99 a month.

But with the switch, the price jumps significantly, with TNT Sports poised to set fans back £30.99 per month to watch – whilst also unlocking further sport including football and cycling, should you want it.

For some, this might mean digging a little deeper into their pockets, with Sky offering TNT Sports as a bolt-on package for £30 per month, while Virgin Media grant access for an additional £18 for the same deal.

Freeview channel Quest will continue to provide some free racing content following Eurosport’s departure. This includes limited live BSB coverage, highlights from the series, and MotoGP Sprint races.
