Four-time World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty will headline a four-day celebration of World Superbike heritage at this summer’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Over 40 production-based racing machines are expected to descend on the West Sussex venue from July 10-13, alongside a number of Foggy’s rivals from across his dominant reign.

The Blackburn rider took world titles in 1994, ’95, ’98, and ’99, capturing the imagination of a booming UK bike racing fanbase obsessed with sportsbikes and attracting in excess of 100,000 fans to British rounds at Brands Hatch.

Fogarty will be reunited with his 1995 Ducati 916 for daily parade runs of the event’s 1.16-mile central hill climb – meeting fans and undoubtedly popping a wheelie or two past the iconic Goodwood House.

“I’ve had such a great time at the Festival of Speed over the years, riding up the Hill on all sorts,” Fogarty said. “I haven’t seen my 1995 Ducati 916 for a while, so I’m looking forward to being reunited with the bike across the weekend.

“It’s great that World Superbikes is getting a moment in the spotlight and fans can see the bikes up close in the paddocks before they take to the Hill.”

Fogarty was forced to retire from the sport in 2000 following a shoulder injury sustained at the Australian round of the championship at Phillip Island.

Only current factory Yamaha rider Jonathan Rea holds more championships than him (six in total), and he holds the third most wins in the history of the sport, behind Rea and Alvaro Bautista.

“Carl has been such an enthusiastic supporter of the Festival of Speed over the years, and it’s only right that we recognise his incredible achievements,” FoS founder The Duke of Richmond CBE DL said.

“While we were creating the Festival of Speed, Carl was at the very height of his powers on the track, entertaining fans around the world in style.

“It’s always such a pleasure having him here with us – I’m looking forward to seeing him take to the Hill and putting on a great show as always.”

On top of taking on runs of the Hill, Fogarty will also take part in a special balcony moment at Goodwood House, addressing visitors to the festival in a celebration of his racing exploits.

In previous years, motorcycling stars including 29-time Isle of Man TT winner Michael Dunlop, and nine-time Grand Prix world champion Valentino Rossi have received similar treatment. Book your tickets online now.
