Two Wheels for Life charity raise over £142k for at Silverstone GP of Champions

More than £142,000 has been raised for charity Two Wheels for Life during the Silverstone round of the MotoGP World Championship, following a packed weekend of fundraising under the new-look ‘GP of Champions’ banner.

The organisation, which is the official partner of the race series, supports programmes that use motorcycles to deliver vital healthcare in remote regions of Africa.

This year’s revised format replaced the long-running Day of Champions with a broader schedule of activity spread across the Grand Prix weekend, starting on Thursday with an experience day that offered 500 fans exclusive paddock access and pit lane walks.

“While our activity at this year’s British Grand Prix looked slightly different from our traditional Day of Champions, it was wonderful to see the fans come out in force to get involved,” said Two Wheels for Life charity co-founder and CEO Andrea Coleman.

“Thursday’s Paddock Experience day was a huge success, and two exciting auctions across the weekend meant we were still able to offer fans the access to ‘money-can’t-buy’ experiences and memorabilia. We are so grateful to Dorna, the teams and riders who bring these incredible items, as well as their energy and enthusiasm to the auctions. The money raised will have such an impact on the world.”

Over £70,000 was raised through two live auctions hosted across Friday and Saturday evenings, featuring signed items from across the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 grids, along with special VIP experiences.

Among the standout lots was a pair of race boots donated by six-time World Champion and current title leader Marc Marquez, which sold for £5500.

LCR Honda rider Johann Zarco also auctioned off a backflip demonstration on the spot for £500.

Elsewhere, fans contributed through a prize draw raffle, the helmet park service, and the Ducati MotoEX2 two-seater experience, which offered lucky participants pillion rides on an electric MotoE bike around the full Silverstone circuit.

Fans also had the chance to meet riders Jake Dixon, Scott Ogden and Eddie O’Shea during on-stage appearances throughout the weekend.

All proceeds go towards supporting medical outreach programmes via Riders for Health in countries including Malawi, Nigeria, Lesotho and The Gambia, where motorcycles provide a lifeline in reaching isolated communities with healthcare.
