Michael Neeves' Yamaha R1 long termer; Brands Hatch March 10/11 – round one of the MRO Powerbike championship.
It’s my first ever race on the R1, and it’s still essentially a road bike with a pattern fairing. I’m up against the big guns on Superbikes and Superstock machines in the prestigious MRO Powerbike championship. The aim is to just come away with some points as the weekend promises to be tough. Things should hopefully be easier at the next rounds, once the bike is better sorted.
This video tells the story of the Friday practice, Saturday qualifying, the Superpole race and the two main races on Sunday.
NB: Since this video was made we’ve completed the second round of the series at Lydden, setting pole position and finishing 4th, 5th and 6th in the races.
