The new BMW R1200RT gets a new 110bhp twin-cam engine which puts it right back on top of the big-distance mile munchers.
How it will stand up to the new Honda VFR1200 is yet to be seen, but with subtle tweaks including the new engine, a restyled front-end, new console and the updated ESA2 electronically adjustable suspension the bike is a force to be reckoned with.
We’re currently at the launch of the bike in Andalusia in Spain, and after spending 600 miles in the saddle, we’re impressed.
It’s not going to blow you away with excitement and at first you struggle to notice the differences as it makes the same power as the old bike, but the more you get on with it, the more you ride it, the more you appreciate what a fine motorcycle BMW has created. It’s just a shame the only colour you can get is grey.
The standard bike costs £11,775 and the SE version is £12,880.
