Aprilia RS4 125 first ride

The all-new four-stroke Aprilia RS4 125 is being launched at the Vairano test track in Italy, and MCN web producer Liam Marsden is at the launch of the new bike. After a session on the RS4, here are his thoughts.

"From a distance, the RS4 looks almost exactly like the RSV4 superbike, which its styling is based on, it's not until you get up close and notice all the space underneath the fairing that you realise it's a single-cylinder four-stroke 125. Once on the bike it continues to deceive - giving the feeling of a a full-size bike.

"The big talking point about this bike though is the all-new four-stroke engine. As you'd expect the motor is nowhere near as powerful as the previous two-stroke engines, but once above 9,000rpm the motor is surprisingly good. Around this handling circuit the bike - which is shod with Pirelli Super Corsa SC1s - is great fun, turning in sharply and holding the line you want all the way through the corner."
