Honda CB500X First Ride

Published: 02 May 2013

Phil West,  Executive Editor, is currently testing Honda’s new CB500X, the adventure styled version of it’s new 500 twin A2 licence friendly three bike range, near Barcelona in Spain. These are his first impressions.

‘Honda expect the new X version of its CB series to be the most popular of the three and on this first experience I have got every reason to expect they are right. Although the F-roadster version and the sports styled R-version have already proved popular and are great mid-range bikes.

This new X offers another dimension again. It’s deliberately slighter bigger all round with longer forks, higher wider bars, a slightly higher seat and slightly longer wheel base, which makes it feel more like a fully grown machine.

It’s great for bigger riders like me but at the same time it is no less novice-friendly and easy to get on with, and still offers an idiot proof but fun riding experience thanks to the all-new and flexible 500 twin cylinder engine.

It costs slightly more but on this evidence it is worth it, read my full test soon.’
