Russell Savory, the man charged with turning Honda’s FireBlade into a challenger for honours in the British Superbike series has turned his hand to one serious supermoto.

You can read more about Savory’s supermoto project in the latest issue of MCN, out June 19.

Savory, manager of the Motopower team in the MCN-backed series, has already built a BSB rep Blade and a touring version of the BSB Blade.

Now he wants to give a Honda XR650R enduro machine his own special treatment. The Savory machine will feature:

*A 2mm over-bore on the 649cc single-cylinder motor bringing it up to around 680cc.

*Power should be near 60bhp with a stonking 55ftlb of torque in a bike that weighs just 122kg (268lb).

*OZ Racing lightweight wheels, complete with 17in Dunlop D207 tyres.

*A WP shock, newly designed mudguard, and yet-to-be decided paintscheme.

* No prices have been fixed yet but it should cost around £7000.

Savory said: ” There is a lot of interest in supermotos at the moment. They are great fun and can be a more licence-friendly than sports bikes. I really fancied one myself! ”
