First-bike bargains

Published: 16 June 2004

If you're ready to get on two wheels for the first time there are some great deals to be had on many of the novice bikes on the market, even the latest offerings from Honda and Kawasaki.

Our latest 'Target Price' survey reveals that you can get up to £800 of your new bike if you're prepared to haggle.

The biggest savings can be found on the training school favourite, Kawasaki's ER-5, which can be snapped up for as little as £2899, while the Suzuki SV650 can be yours for £750 off list price at £4095.

Even the new Kawasaki Z750 and Honda CBF600, which have both been getting rave reviews, can been found at £700 under list with the Z750 going for £4799 and CBF600 at 4199.

You can save £300 off the list price of the Ducati Monster 620 and Honda CBF500 but if you've got your heart set on a BMW we found that no dealers would knock anything off either the F650CS or the R850R Classic.

All prices quoted are OTR for UK models.

Each week we publish more target prices in MCN. If you've done a great deal, see our related stories to share what you know.
