R6 tops the charts

1 of 1

Yamaha’s R6 certainly seems to be pressing all the right buttons with UK riders, topping the MCI sales charts for April.

The R6 dominates the top ten, selling 23 more bikes this year than the next most popular machine, the Honda Fireblade.

Suzuki’s GSX-Rs fill the rest of the top five slots with the 750 proving more popular than the 1000 and the 600 following on behind a massive 62 bikes behind.

Sports bikes are now firmly back on the top of the sales charts while the sporty 50cc scooters that used to put in such a good show have been replace by sensible learner bikes and bigger, less flashy, scooters like Honda’s SCV100 Lead.

The biggest selling non sports-bike is still BMW’s R1200GS. It benefited massively from the ‘Long Way Round’ effect, which coincided with a shrinking touring bike market.
