KTM officially launched its X-Bow sportscar in Geneva yesterday – announcing plans to make 500 of the £27,000 machines each year.

Initially, 100 of the cars will be made in Italy by race car specialists Dallara, who also designed the chassis, but if they sell as well as expected production will be moved to Austria, with up to 500 made each year alongside KTM’s bikes at its main factory.

The final decision on full production will be made next month, according to KTM boss Stefan Pierer, and production in Austria could start in mid-2008.
