These are the first video clips of MotoGP hero Valentino Rossi filming a new riding DVD to celebrate 10 years of the Yamaha R series.
The new DVD will be given away in a special event on March 15 at Yamaha dealers across the country, believed to be on a first come, first served basis.
Using a Yamaha R1 and R6, Rossi filmed his top ten riding tips under a shroud of secrecy at the Ascari circuit in Spain in December. The leaked clip shows a giggling Rossi sat driving a Fiat 500 being shown round the circuit by UK Director of the California Superbike School and ex MCN road tester, Andy Ibbott. There’s also clips of Rossi putting the new R6 and R1 through their paces.
Ibbott said: “Yamaha Europe rang me and asked if I’d like to film some riding tips in December, I usually won’t travel in December as I spend all year in planes, but when they said it was on a new Yamaha R1, R6 and with Valentino Rossi on a private track, I thought oh, go on then”
Asked if he gave Valentino some riding tips himself Ibbott said: “I had to really didn’t I? He’s obviously a genius bike rider but there’s definitely some areas he could improve on!”
