Buell 1125CR-Café Racer First Ride!

1 of 3

MCN Chief Road Tester Trevor Franklin has just been riding the new Buell 1125CR Café Racer – these are his first impressions hot off the bike.

“My test of the new 1125CR took place at a small facility outside Berlin, Germany and showed two things. First, the naked version of the Buell 1125R with upright bars is a hoot to ride.

“And second, and perhaps even more importantly, previous complaints about the new Buell’s faulty engine management hot running and fuel consumption are now banished for good.

“A complete re-vamp of the electronics has shown us the Buell 1125 series now actually works. On the short tight confines of the test track, Buell’s famed light steering proved its worth but as the bike comes it is fitted with what the Americans call ‘Clubman’ bars which are essentially old-fashioned Ace bars.

“These are a little too low and forward for comfort. Optional high rise bars are available for a price yet to be confirmed. And as you can imagine, a claimed 140bhp engine and upright bars means fun.”

For more of Trevor’s test of the new 1125CR see next week’s MCN.
