Ural launch ‘Red October’ sidecar

1 of 5

This is Russian manufacturer Ural’s new, limited edition ‘Red October’ sidecar combination – which just goes to prove that Russians do have a sense of humour, after all.

Produced at the request of its European distributor, the new outfit has been built, supposedly, to mark both the 20th anniversary of the Sean Connery film, The Hunt for Red October, and the October revolution of 1917.

The Red October is based on Ural’s enduring, rugged, WW2-style 749cc flat-twin combo but with a number of key changes: black-rimmed 18-inch wheels are used in place of the standard bike’s 19s, to both lower ride height and improve road handling; there are a number of neat, ‘retro’ design touches, including round lamps on both the sidecar and tail, a metal toolbox complete with hammer and sickle logo (!) is added to the sidecar and the whole thing is lavished in red paint.

Just 30 are being built and UK availability is not yet known. Contact  David Angel at UK importers F2 motorcycles http://www.f2motorcycles.co.uk/home.html if you’re interested.
