Yamaha have unveiled a new 125cc concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, aimed at appealing to younger, more fashion conscious, riders. The Resonator 125 marries Yamaha’s motorcycling and musical influences, and has a strong heritage whiff about it, combined with a few futuristic touches, like the all-digital display panel.
Its oddest feature comes in the form of wood panels that flank each side of the tank, which Yamaha say features the same wood grain that’s used in their guitars and brass detailing that has been inspired by the production of brass and woodwind instruments. More conventional is the fuel-injected air-cooled 125cc four-stroke engine nestling in the frame.
It’s a strange beast, but is also somewhat attractive, and while this it is just a concept, with bikes such as the retro themed and relatively affordable XSR700, it’s clear that Yamaha have got at least one eye on the bike riders of tomorrow.
