2018 Yamaha X-MAX 125 revealed

Yamaha have unveiled an updated X-MAX 125 for 2018, which brings the baby of the family in line with the larger X-MAX 300 and X-MAX 400 models.

Yamaha have sold 140,000 X-MAX 125s since the model was launched, but they’re not resting on their laurels, and for 2018 the 125 gets a restyle with LED lights all round, and traction control.

The traction control system works by measuring the rear wheel speed and reducing drive force if any rear wheel spin is detected. The 125cc single-cylinder engine is now also Euro4 compliant.

The X-MAX’s front wheel is slightly larger than most scooter wheels, at 15 inches, which should improve stability and handling.

Of course, the X-MAX is littered with practical touches. The screen is adjustable, as are the handlebars, which can be adjusted forward or back. There’s also a 12V socket in the left side storage compartment so you can charge your devices while on the go. Under the seat there is storage for two full face helmets, and if that’s not enough Yamaha offer an official accessory top box.

The new X-MAX 125 will be available this autumn in Radical Red, Sonic Grey, Phantom Blue and Blazing Grey, with pricing yet to be announced.
