Lexmoto reveal retro RSS Street 125 naked

1 of 5

Lexmoto have revealed details of a retro-inspired naked called the RSS Street, that they will add to their 125cc line-up.

The RSS Street is powered by a liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine that produces a claimed 14bhp and delivers the power to the 17in rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox. This should propel the RSS to 70mph.

Conventional forks provide the damping up front while a single shock is bolted in at the rear. Rider information is relayed via a 5in TFT screen hidden behind a tiny fly screen.

There’s LED lighting all round and a 14.5-litre tank, which should give the Street plenty of range. The learner-friendly machine has a kerb weight of 163kg, though, which isn’t exactly light for a 125.

The RSS joins the firm’s Tempest as another retro-styled option, which is a scrambler powered by an air-cooled 125cc engine.

Although the retail price has yet to be released, the Street will be competing against small capacity retro rivals such as the £5200 Yamaha XSR125.

The Yamaha produces the same power from its liquid-cooled engine and gets Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), but is only equipped with an LCD instrument panel.

It does, however, weigh a significant 23kg less. Mutt’s retro, air-cooled 125 single range is another set of rivals to the new Lexmoto.

The Chinese-built, British finished bikes have old-school dials, upside-down forks and embossed seats. The Mutt 125cc range starts at £3250.

The new Lexmoto RSS Street will be available in either crimson red or Tuscany yellow. We’ll be among the first to ride this new bike, so keep an eye out for the Lexmoto RSS Street review coming soon.
