Popular Yamaha R125 sportsbike gets tech tweak for 2025 to unlock more from its colour TFT dash

Yamaha’s ever-popular R125 junior race rep will be continuing into 2025, benefiting from new colours and a tech update to unlock greater mobile connectivity from the TFT dash.

The four-stroke single-cylinder sports machine has been with us since 2008 and got its last major update for 2023.

Now in its fourth generation, there was no real need for a major overhaul this time around thanks to already being Euro5+ compliant and styled in the same manner as the incoming R9 triple, R7 middleweight, and recently revised R3 twin.

Featuring a composed Deltabox chassis, and 41mm upside down KYB forks, the 125 motorbike is now available in a choice of ‘Icon Blue’ or ‘Tech Black’, with prices starting from £5400.

The five inch full colour TFT dashboard has been further enhanced to include turn-by-turn navigation via the Yamaha MyRide app, alongside the current weather conditions at the final destination.

Messages can also be previewed, alongside caller and text information – with song and artist details also displayed when listening to music through a Bluetooth headset.

Other details already included further consist of a lean angle indicator – which uses data from your mobile to determine how far over you’ve achieved.

The updates come following heavy revisions to the larger A2 licence R3, which features revised styling for 2025 including subtle winglets. To include these on a 14.8bhp four-stroke 125 would have been a touch unnecessary.
