Last year, Yamaha produced the Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid as a concept bike, on the basis of customer interest from their T7 concept.
Powered by the 689cc parallel twin from the MT-07 but mated with a steel cradle frame, the Tenere 700 is much closer to the production bike than the previous model and it is thought we could see a finished bike at Eicma, in Milan, in November.
We know this because we’ve seen spy pics of a nearly finished production model in testing, which begs the question: Does this video show Yamaha's finished production model?
We’re all for getting people amped up with concept bikes but what we needed here was not another concept. We needed an awesome middleweight adventure bike that we can ride next year.
Let’s just hope that when it does finally arrive, it’s perfect – especially considering the new-wave of competition brought by the likes of BMW's F750GS and F850GS, as well as the Moto Guzzi V85TT.
