Kit review: Dainese Axial Race Boots
Product: Dainese Axial Race Boots £279.99
Tester: Michael Neeves
Miles covered/time: 30,000/three years
What’s good? Despite owning these boots for three years I haven’t actually crashed in them – yet – which is remarkable for me. There’s always time… They seem to be sturdy enough for when the time comes, with lots of protection in the sole, heel and a carbon/Kevlar inner section, and if they’re good enough for Rossi and Lorenzo…
What’s not? They take an absolute age to break in and even now, they’re nowhere near as comfortable as the Alpinestars Supertech R boots I also wear. The most baffling thing is that the toesliders are screwed into the boot and don’t clip in, so once you wear the head off the exposed screw you can’t remove it or the sliders.
