Puma Roadster v4 GTX Boot, £179.99
Time tested: 2000 miles/ Four months
What’s good? They are exceptionally comfortable and didn’t take any breaking in. When off the bike they have a sturdy sole and are great for walking. I wore them through the summer and, whilst they are a waterproof Gore-Tex lined boot, they’ve not made my feet at all sweaty. Unlike other waterproof boots I’ve worn they don’t smell cheesy either, which is always a bonus.
What’s not? Whilst the boots are soft, which meant they didn’t need much breaking in, this also means they don’t feel overly strong. Fortunately I’ve not needed to test their protective qualities but they don’t instill me with great confidence. The shin protector is really bulky, so much so it doesn’t fit particularly well under some of my riding trousers and when wearing jeans, for my commute to the office, I look like a 1980s throwback with jeans tucked inside my boots.
