Product review: Alpinestars S-MX6 boots

1 of 1

Time tested: One year/1500 miles
Price: £179.99

What’s good? These boots had a tough act to follow. I’ve used the TCX RS-2s for a few years and loved them so much I really didn’t want to let them go, but with a few scuffs and scrapes it was time to move on. The Alpinestars S-MX 6 are actually a similar boot.

Versatile, comfy and waterproof - thanks to the Gore-Tex liner - they are breathable and keep feet warm when it’s cold but not too sweaty in the summer. For such a top boot, from such a top brand, these are great value and are showing no signs of wear yet. Hunt around and you can find these for £150 – what a bargain!

What’s not? I find the shin protection a little bulky and I struggle to pull my riding jeans on over the top. I love flares as much as the next man, but man this is getting heavy!
