Our Sports Editor, Michael's, ridden over 6000 miles over the last few months. His longest trip was a 2000 mile holiday to Spain, so he's got lots of experience and here's his review.
There is good protection especially around the shin and heal area that gives a reassuring and secure feel. The Velcro that gives the final fit once the zip is done up is also incredibly strong.
Although the boot doesn’t appear overly vented, the material is breathable, meaning my feet also stayed cool during a 2000 mile trip into Spain last summer. The boot is not designed to be waterproof, but does a reasonable job of fending off showers and even heavy rain for short periods of time.
Having previously used race boots that have a drawstring to secure the fit or have separate inner boot, I don’t find the fit of these boots particularly secure. Despite being the right size, they do feel too spacious and there is no way to adjust this. The shin protection is excessive which means that it’s a struggle to get some of my Gore-Tex trousers to fit over the top of the boot, too.
