Product review: TCX Lady Smoke Boots

1 of 2

These TCX Lady Smoke boots look as good off the bike, as they do on, so are great for wearing with more casual kit. Our Office Manager, Ali, has worn them for 1,000 miles over the last seven months and here's her thoughts.

What’s good?

With a leather upper and fully waterproof liner, these lady specific boots are comfortable but do look cumbersome.

They are generously sized (I’m normally a 7.5 but found a 7 to be large enough) and, with a combination of a chunky heel and internal lift, add an extra couple of inches to my height. At 5ft10in tall and with a 33” inside leg, I’ve not got an issue with leg length but am sure this would be an aide to shorter legged ladies.

The tongue is partially sewn in and this has helped to keep my feet warm and dry through wet and wintry conditions. There is protection at the heel, ankle and toe. They are smart enough to wear off the bike too and on a recent riding weekend in France I didn’t pack any ‘normal’ shoes.

What’s not?

If I am being pedantic, I do find them to be a bit draughty if I don’t have them laced tightly enough. This could be more down to me than a fault of the boots though.

With think these casual boots would look good with denim riding jeans.

Our Online Editor, Maria, has been trying out the PMJ Carolina jeans they'd be the ideal partner for these TCX boots.
