Product Review: Held softshell waistcoat

Held softshell waistcoat, £64.99

Tester: Tim Thompson

Time tested: Three months

What’s good? It’s an extra layer: an over leathers-and-hump layer to ward off the cold on an early morning summer’s ride. It’s stretchy with an elasticated waist and manages the trick of being both easy to put on and snug once in place. Despite being lined it’s totally lacking in bulk and rolls up like a T-shirt. I wear it under jackets too.

What’s not? There are no pockets, so nowhere to put keys. And an inch of stitching has come adrift.
