Product Review: Alpinestars Oscar Charlie denim jeans (RRP £159.99)
What’s good about the Alpinestars Oscar Charlie denim jeans?
These retro-style, armoured riding jeans are comfortable on and off the bike. They’re made from stretch denim, for comfort, and I like the way the CE-certified knee armour stays in place and doesn’t ride-up to my thigh when I’m crouched on a sportsbike, like some jeans I’ve tested. They’re well-made, with lots of nice detail touches on the zips, buttons and rivets and have a quality feel about them. They also have extra padding in the bum and knee areas for protection. I’ve been wearing these jeans for general commuting on my ZX-10R and on MCN road tests. They’re proving to be durable, but fortunately I haven’t tested them in a crash. The denim isn’t as thick as some, but that’s not necessarily a sign of how crash-resistant they’ll be.
And what’s not?
The cut of the jeans is just a little too slim to fit racing boots underneath, so I only wear them with ankle-length riding boots.
