Product review: EDZ Merino Base Layers

Maria's been top to toe in EDZ thermals for the last three months. How toasty have they kept her through winter?

What’s good?

My EDZ top and leggings are just 200g in weight each, meaning they are so light and comfortable to wear under my outer protective clothing that I hardly realise I’m wearing them!

They have flat seams and the leggings have a boxer-style elastic waistband, which I love. It keeps them up and helps them stay put when putting on my textile trousers. The neck-tube really does keep the wind out too and can be worn in three different ways. Once again, the soft wool material comes in useful when the neck tube caresses my face.

These layers also fit in the washing machine and dry overnight, which is handy if you need to wear them again the next day. The EDZ long socks are my favourite part of this set though. They are like wearing slippers in my bike boots and always keep my feet from freezing. Worth every penny.

What’s not?

While the 100% wool items are a natural source for climate control and warmth, the top layer isn’t suitable in weather verging on freezing. I have to add another layer on to keep the bitter wind out.
