Racer High Racer gloves, £139.99
Time tested: 2000 miles/three months
What’s good? The comfort, which makes these the most sumptuous motorcycling gloves I’ve ever had the pleasure to wear. The kangaroo leather palms offer beautiful feel and are as supple as any I’ve worn in 13 years of riding, with very little breaking in required. There’s plenty of protection on offer from carbon knuckles, scaphoid sliders and a leather bridge to keep the little finger braced to the third finger. I love wearing them, and it’s a shame it’s recently become chilly as they are too vented for cooler days.
What’s not? It’s unusual and peculiar to my riding style and bike (Triumph Street Triple R), but the outer leather on the heel of the palm has worn through. When riding on track, because I hold my throttle like a screwdriver in right-hand turns, the leather becomes sandwiched between the plastic scaphoid slider and the narrow bar-end on my Triumph and that’s worn it through.
