Held Arctic winter gloves £124.99

Tester: Michael Guy

Time tested: Five years/24000 miles

What’s good? They’re good looking, well-tailored and well-fitting gloves that have lasted very well and feel like thick summer gloves rather than a bulbous winter one. All the stitching remains intact and the Velcro wrist strap still does its job well. The rain wipe on the index finger of the left hand glove is very effective. Good protection for a winter glove includes hard knuckle protection and reinforced palm. They have proved to be waterproof on all but one occasion.

What’s not? While this glove ticks all the boxes in terms of looks or comfort – I’ve never found them to be particularly warm. Like any glove they have lost their warmth properties over time as the lining wears, but in true winter riding you need heated grips to keep your hands from freezing.
