Product Review: Macna Proton heated gloves

1 of 1

Macna Proton heated gloves,

Time tested: One month, 1000 miles

What’s good? Heated gloves are always my first choice in the winter months because my fingers get very cold very quickly. The Protons have an adjustable controller, which is clipped in to a velcro strap that goes round your thigh. It’s weird at first but makes perfect sense when riding because there’s no blind searching for a dangling controller and you don’t have to take your throttle hand off the bar to click a button, as with some other heated gloves. After an hour and a half ride in 20C my hands weren’t cold but they weren’t toasty warm either so the gloves could do with more power. They’re a comfortable but tight fit so it’s best to go one size bigger than you normally would.

What’s not? The controller on the thigh is great if you have a long non-stop ride ahead of you, but if you have to keep getting on and off the bike it can get annoying. Once you disconnect from the bike the wires dangle by your feet so you have to continuously take the unit on and off.
