Product Review: Racer High Racer gloves

Racer High Racer gloves, £99.95

Tester: Tony Hoare

Tested for: Two years/3000 miles

What’s good? There are plenty of reasons to welcome summer with open arms, and the ability to dig out my Racer gloves for another season of use is one of them. I’m starting my third season with these race-standard gloves and they have been the best I’ve ever worn. The kangaroo palms were so supple from the off that I did a trackday in them on day one of ownership, and things have only got more comfortable since. They fit me perfectly (some gloves are too short in the fingers), the vents keep my hands cool and those roo palms give fantastic feel for the controls. I’ve even tested the crash protection, piling myself into the track at Anglesey at around 65mph, and the Racers emerged with the merest of scuffs on the carbon knuckle protectors. As far as I’m concerned, these are the pinnacle of bike gloves.

What’s not? The plastic scaphoid protectors can get in the way on some bikes with an upright riding position, but it takes only a small adjustment to get around that.
