Helmet review: Shoei Hornet DS

What's good? Stylish Off-road look but with all the practical touches of a road lid. Vents on the brow and rear of the helmet give a good flow of air, the chin vent less so but I've yet to suffer misting even without the supplied pin lock insert.

The large peak features big cutaways in the crown allowing air to flow through rather than catch the wind so 85mph cruising is easily achievable. All round brilliant.

What's not? Most Shoei helmets have the fastest visor removal system on the market. But due to the peaked design of the Hornet the shield is held on with plastic screws. This means swapping between tinted and clear visors takes a little longer.
