Helmet review: Shark RSR2 Carbon

Shark RSR2 Carbon, £449.99
Miles covered:
20,000+/two years

What’s good? I’ve worn these every time I’ve been on track over the last few years. Sadly, I fear I may have written it off during my biggie at Cadwell a few weeks back.

The visor and the side of the lid are scuffed, but I’m going to send it to Shark for a check over, to see if it’s still safe (call the number below to take advantage of this service yourself).

This has been the perfect race lid over the last 20-odd thousand miles – the padding is easily removable, and there is a massive range of visors to choose from (rain, clear, different tits, anti-fog, etc).

The quick-release visor is just that, as well – there’s none of the sickening crunch or fiddling you get with other helmets.

This particular lid benefitted from a custom paintjob by Rich Art Concepts (www.richartconcepts.co.uk), which makes damaging it even more painful!

What’s not? Nothing really. If the fit starts to get baggy you can pop along to the Shark race truck at any BSB meeting and they’ll custom fit the lid for you with specific race pads, even if you have a pin head. It’s on the expensive side, but for me it’s proved well worth it.
